Husky Golfers Finish Third at Hartford Hawk Invitational

South Kent, Conn. (September 28, 2010)-- The University of Connecticut golf team finished in third place Tuesday at the Hartford Hawk Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Course. The tournament was shortened to two rounds due to inclement weather.
St. John's University captured the team title with a two-round score of 585, followed by Dartmouth College (589), UConn (593), Hartford (599) and Loyola-Md. (606). D.J. Lantz of Hartford captured individual medalist honors after shooting a pair of 71's, earning a one-shot victory over Evan Beirne of St. John's and Peter Williamson of Dartmouth.
Senior Chris DeLucia was the top UConn finisher in a tie for fourth place overall, three shots behind the winner. Seniors Jeremy Troy and Matt Dubrowski each finished in a tie for ninth place overall, with sophomore Brian Hughes (t24th) and junior Jeb Buchanan (t31st) rounding out the Husky finishers in the tournament.
The Huskies return to action October 11-12 when they host the 2nd Annual Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge CC.
