Field Hockey Rated No. 2 in RPI

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut field hockey team is rated No. 2 in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday, October 4. Tuesday marks the first time the NCAA has released the RPI in 2011. Connecticut has spent the first five weeks of the season ranked No. 4 in the Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll.
Connecticut finished the 2010 campaign ranked No. 3 in the RPI.
Connecticut, which boasts a 10-1 overall record this season, has already beaten No. 4 Stanford, No. 7 Penn State and No. 10 Albany in 2011. The team will face No. 8 Syracuse, No. 22 Princeton (twice) and No. 25 Virginia later this season.
The Huskies are rated fifth nationally in goals against average (0.91), and third in assists per game at 3.64.
UConn is back in action on Friday, October 7 when the team travels to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in our nation's capital.
