Women's Tennis Falls to Stony Brook 6-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The UConn women's tennis team fell to Stony Brook 6-1 at Army on Saturday afternoon.
Jennifer Learmonth and Emily Herb paired together to beat Stony Brook's Prerana Appineni and Fanny Charliquart 8-5, while Alexa Gregory and Abby McKeon dominated Katherine Hansen and Chloe Pike 8-1.
The Huskies lost in their singles' matches as Learmonth battled in a 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 match to Stony Brook's Prerana Appineni, marking a close match for the UConn freshman.
Herb fell to Nina Lagvilava 6-1 in her singles' match-up, while Gregory lost to Aylin Mehter 4-0.
In other doubles' matches, Lauren Wilmarth and freshman Lucy Nutting fell to Mehter and Gayatri Krishnan 8-2 before McKeon lost to Krishnan in singles' action. Wilmarth also fell short in her singles' match with a 3-1 loss to Katherine Hanson before Nutting was edged by Salome Mkerwelidze 4-3.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday to take on Army beginning at 9:00 a.m.
