Innisbrook, Fla. (April 17, 2011)-The University of Connecticut golf team stands in ninth place after day one Sunday of the 2011 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship at the Copperhead Course of the Innisbrook Resort.
Notre Dame and Louisville are tied for the team lead at 293 through one round, while the third place through 12th place teams are bunched between 300 and 309 in what promises to be a competitive final two round Monday and Tuesday. The Huskies are at 305 and stand ninth.
Leading the Huskies on the day were juniors Matt Dziubina and Jeb Buchanan, who shot 74 and 75, respectively, to stand in a tie for 14th and tie for 19th individually. Karsten Clements of Louisville and Joe Kastelic of Cincinnati each shot 69 to tie for the individual lead after day one.
The tournament continues with round two action Monday and round three Tuesday.
