Moore and Auriemma Take Top Honors From AP

INDIANAPOLIS - University of Connecticut head women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma has been named Associated Press Co-Coach of the Year while senior forward Maya Moore was honored as the AP Player of the Year as announced on Saturday afternoon at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Auriemma, who shared the award with Stanford's Tara VanDerveer and Miami' Katie Meier, has taken home AP Coach of the Year honors seven times, including three times in the last four years. Moore also won the top honors from the AP in 2009.
Auriemma and Moore have led the Huskies to a 36-1 overall record and BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2010-11. The Huskies are 150-3 since Moore joined the Huskies and have advanced to the Final Four in all four seasons. The team has won a pair of national championships and eight BIG EAST Championships since the 2007-08 campaign.
Top-ranked Connecticut, the champion of the Philadelphia Regional, will square-off against Dayton Regional champion Notre Dame on Sunday, April 3. Game time is set for approximately 9:30 p.m. EDT at Conseco Fieldhouse and will be preceded by the Stanford vs. Texas A&M matchup at 7 p.m. Tickets are available in either single-session ($87.50 for Sunday's semifinals and $87.50 for Tuesday's championship game) or all-session ($175) form.
