UConn Drops Third Game At DePaul

STORRS, Conn. - In the final game of a three-game set against DePaul in Chicago, Ill., the UConn softball team fell, 2-1. The Huskies dropped their overall record to 19-27 (6-12 BIG EAST). DePaul improved to 34-11 including a BIG EAST best, 17-1.
UConn missteps in the field cost the Huskies the only two runs in the game. DePaul generated two base runners and scored two runs on errors by the UConn infield.
Sophomore Kiki Saveriano pitched well but suffered the loss, dropping to 10-20 on the season. Saveriano allowed just five hits in six innings.
The UConn offense generated nine hits but only capitalized with one run in the sixth inning.
Sophomore Kim Silva and junior Jennifer Ward each went 2-for-4 and redshirt sophomore Marissa Guches finished the day 3-for-4.
Junior Amy Vaughan and freshman Andrea Huelsenbeck each had one hit for Connecticut.
Connecticut's only run of the game came off the bat of Guches as she hit her fourth home run of the season to left field.
Connecticut will face Notre Dame next weekend in the final three games of the season. UConn will host the Irish in a double header on Saturday, May 7 beginning at 1 p.m. UConn will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, May 8 at Noon.
