SHANGHAI, China - Incoming UConn women's swimmer Chinyere Pigot is representing Suriname at the 2011 World Swimming Championships currently being held in Shanghai, China.
On Thursday, Pigot swam in the preliminaries of the 100-yard freestyle and finished with a time of 57.34 seconds. She was 41st of 78 swimmers, but did not qualify for the semifinals.
Pigot's second event will be the 50-yard free style, which starts on Saturday. She will compete in the ninth heat.
