Hughes Shoots 69 to lead Golf at Adams Cup

Middletown, R.I. - Junior Brian Hughes shot a second round 69 Monday and the University of Connecticut golf team stands in a tie for 10th place entering the final round of the Adams Cup of Newport at Newport National G.C.
The University of Georgia leads the team competition by three strokes over the University of Central Florida, with Bryden Macpherson of Georgia and Ricardo Gouveia of UCF tied for the individual lead.
UConn struggled to a team total of 305 in the morning round, but bounced back with a 291 in the afternoon, paced by the 69 from Hughes. Hughes stands in a tie for 26th place in the individual competition. Senior Adam Vaccari is tied for 41st after shooting a second round 73.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
