STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team dropped a home match to Marist on Tuesday, 4-2. The Huskies took the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 but managed just one point in singles play behind Jacob Spreyer at No. 1. NO. 6 singles was cancelled due to darkness.
Spreyer and junior Ryan Carr handles Will Reznik and Matteo Guidici at No. 1 singles, 8-3. Wei Lin and sophomore Wayne Harrell combined at No. 2 singles to take an 8-5 decision.
Freshmen Zac McEntee and Parker Cohen dropped their match, 8-3, but the point was already earned for Connecticut in the team scoring.
Spreyer was the lone member from UConn to win at singles play. He downed Lorenzo Rossi, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Mark HoSang was even in his No. 6 singles match, 6-2, 3-6, 5-5, before the competition was called due to darkness. The No. 6 singles would not have helped the huskies in the team scoring, as Marist was already ahead, 4-2.
