Costanzo Named Executive Director Of Recreational Services

STORRS, Conn. - Cynthia Costanzo, who holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Connecticut, has been named UConn's Executive Director of Recreational Services. In that role, Costanzo is responsible for the management of a comprehensive recreational sports program, which services student, faculty and staff at UConn. Recreational Services has nearly 600,000 participations on an annual basis.
Costanzo comes to UConn after working at Western New England University in Springfield, Mass., since 1996. She had been the Senior Associate Director of Athletics at WNE since 2011 and served as the school's NCAA Senior Woman Administrator. She also had administrative oversight over a number of departments, including strength and conditioning, recreation, athletic training and community outreach. Costanzo also had duties in event planning, fundraising and advancement and academic mentoring.
She was an Associate Director of Athletics from 2007-2011, an Assistant Director of Athletics from 2001-07 and the school's Director of Wellness from 1996-2011. Costanzo was the Wellness Coordinator and an Athletic Trainer from 1993-96.
Costanzo earned her undergraduate degree in athletic training from UConn in 1988 and a master's degree in biophysical science in 1990. She was a graduate assistant in athletic training and was a graduate research assistant in the Human Performance Laboratory.
