POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The UConn men's tennis team had a difficult day against Marist College, bowing to the Red Foxes, 7-0, to fall to 3-2 in dual matches this fall season.
The only win for the Huskies came from the doubles team of junior Jacob Spreyer (Denver, Co.) and freshman Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.), who defeated Marist's Dalen Klassen and Trym Nagelstad, 8-7 (6). UConn junior Wayne Harrell (East Windsor, Conn.) was the only UConn player to extend his singles match to three sets before bowing to Marist's Lorenzo Rossi, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
"We faced a very good team," UConn coach Michael Louis said. "We played well at the start of matches, but we weren't able to sustain that level of play throughout. Jacob and Chris played tough in their doubles match to get us our lone win."
The Huskies move on to the Regional Championships, taking place Thursday through Sunday at the Yale tennis courts in New Haven.
