UConn Captures Third at American Cross Country Championship

MADISON, Conn. - Emily Durgin (Portland, Maine) and Brigitte Mania (Flemington, N.J.) posted a pair of top-ten finishes to help the UConn women's cross country teams grab third place at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship held at Hammonasset State Park on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies accrued 94 points, ending the day with an average time of The SMU Mustangs recorded five top-ten runners to take first place with 29 points.
Durgin continued an impressive fall as the third runner to cross the finish line on Saturday afternoon. Her time of 20:25 in the 6k race marks one of her best performances of the season. Mania supplied the other UConn top-10 performance with a time of 20:55 to nab eighth place in the meet. Abby Mace (Maranacook, Maine) rounded out the top three with a time of 21:23 while Laura Williamson (Princeton, Mass.) finished just behind in 21:39.
