UConn Golfers Compete At Quail Valley

Junior John Flaherty (Glastonbury, Conn.) led the UConn effort with a 1-under 68-71-76-215, good enough to tie for 20th place in the 75-player field. Sophomore Eric Dietrich (Cheshire, Conn.) also opened the tourney with a 4-under 68 and finished with a 1-over 68-76-73-217, to tie for 29th place.
Also for UConn, senior Dane Rosa (Mansfield, Conn.) finished in a tie for 49th place with a 75-72-75-222, junior Zach Zaback (Farmington, Conn.) finished in a tie for 60th with a 70-81-73-224, and senior Chris Wiatr (Woodbury, Conn.) was 73rd with an 80-79-74-233.
As a team, UConn's aggregate 281-298-295-874, was 12th in the 15-team field. North Florida (278-286-276-840) was the tournament champion, while Tennessee's Jack Smith (63-75-67-205) and Kentucky's Tyler McDaniel (67-70-68-205) tied for medalist honors.
The Huskies will begin the spring portion of their schedule on Feb. 22-24, when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz., to compete in the Snowman Getaway at Palm Valley Golf Club.
