Head Coach Geno Auriemma
On his thoughts of how the 12-day break affected UConn
"The break affects different teams in different ways. Sometimes when you have that much time off, your team gets too much practice. I thought our defense was good during practice, but it wasn't so good at the beginning of tonight's game. We didn't spend a lot of time working on our offense, and it was really good today."
On the offensive production of Breanna Stewart tonight
"I thought she was moving more. She was a lot more assertive and wasn't looking to pass the ball as much. She attacked the defense and she made shots. Anytime you make shots it makes everything else look good. She's been a different kind of player that last seven days of practice. We could see that there was a little bit of a difference in her."
On Depaul's coach xxxx xxx comments on how the national champion this season would have to get by UConn first
"I don't think with this particular team that we have right now that it would be a good idea to look too far ahead. Other teams we've had that were head and shoulders above everyone else could maybe look more to the future, but this team as a lot more to work on. It's best for me to keep it short term."
Freshman Guard Kia Nurse
On her thoughts on the play of Breanna Stewart tonight and in recent practices
"She's been really assertive and she's getting us places she needs to be. She's helped the intensity in practice and we have responded to that."
On how UConn has responded after the 12-day break
"It took a few minutes into the game to get the rust out, but we did really well after that."
Junior Forward Breanna Stewart
On what it meant to be able to play in Bridgeport in front of this crowd
"It's nice to see because they get so excited and they get intense."
On how the Huskies looked on the offensive end tonight after the long break
"The break was kind of bitter sweet. It was bad because it was long but we got better as a team. I think that you tell it took us five minutes to get the rust off, but it seemed offensively we were able to get any shot we wanted."
