GREENVILLE, N.C. - Less than 48 hours after topping No. 10 Duke, 83-52, the No. 2 University of Connecticut women's basketball team hits road when it challenges American Athletic Conference foe East Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 2:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcasted on SNY with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
UConn (10-1) handed Duke its fourth loss of the season on Monday night, getting double-digit point performances from five different players, headlined by 18 points from junior guard Moriah Jefferson (Glenn Heights, Texas). Reigning conference Freshman of the Week Kia Nurse (Hamilton, Ontario) notched her ninth-straight double-figure game (11), while junior forward Breanna Stewart (Syracuse, N.Y.) became just the seventh Husky player to record 200 career blocks in the victory.
Senior forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) passed Maya Moore (311) on UConn's all-time made three-point basket list and can match Diana Taurasi's school record (318) with just three more made shots from long range.
The Huskies will look to close the calendar's final month with a perfect 6-0 record. Overall, Connecticut has emerged victorious in 115 of its last 120 December contests.
The Huskies, who have never dropped an American Athletic Conference game since joining the league prior to the start of the 2013-14 season, opened its conference slate with a 96-45 victory, led by a career-best 24-point showing from Jefferson.
East Carolina has won nine of its first 12 games this season but fell to USF, 69-62, on Sunday. The Pirates are led by redshirt-junior Jada Payne, who averages a stellar 18.3 points per game on 45.7 percent shooting from the floor.
Wednesday's showdown will be the first-ever between the two programs.
