UConn Wraps Up Regular Season At Yale Spring Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. --- The UConn men's golf team wrapped up its regular season by competing in the Yale Spring Invitational last weekend at The Course at Yale, a 6,775-yard, par-70 layout in New Haven.
Some of the finest college golf teams in the nation were on hand at the 14-team event, including tourney champion Wake Forest, which shot an aggregate 15-under 825. With a solid 289 in Sunday's final round, the Huskies finished in 10th place (300-292-289-881). Over the final two rounds of the tournament, UConn posted the fifth-best team score.
Leading the UConn contingent was junior John Flaherty (Glastonbury, Conn.), who tied for 30th place in the 74-player field with a 9-over, 76-71-72-219.
Senior Chris Wiatr (Woodbury. Conn.) was one stroke behind Flaherty at 73-75-72-220, to tie for 36th place, while sophomore Eric Dietrich (Cheshire, Conn.) and junior Cameron MacKay (Brookfield, Conn.) were part of a tie for 41st place with 75-76-71-222 and 77-71-74-222, respectively. Junior Zach Zaback (Farmington, Conn.) tied for 50th place after shooting 76-75-74-225.
The Huskies return to action on April 26-29, competing in The American Athletic Conference Championship at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla.
