STORRS, Conn. -- After a week on the road, the University of Connecticut softball team returns to Burrill Family Field to host Boston College on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. Following the contest, the Huskies will prepare for a Thursday road tilt with Fairfield set for 4 p.m.
The Huskies' contest against the Eagles was originally scheduled for March 26 but was postponed due to unplayable field conditions.
UConn (15-27, 3-8 The American) fell three times to conference foe Houston in road weekend action. The Husky pitching staff shined in Saturday's doubleheader, allowing just six earned runs on the day but Houston held Connecticut to just seven combined hits, escaping with a pair of 2-1 and a 4-1 victories . On Sunday, junior SS Lexi Gifford delivered a clutch two-out hit to give the Huskies an early 2-0 edge but the Cougars fought back and walked off with the win following a seventh-inning RBI double off the bat of Courtney Klingler.
Earlier this week, senior RHP Lauren Duggan, who tossed the program's 37th no-hitter on April 15 vs. Hartford, become the fifth different Husky to earn a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll. In total, UConn has had six players earn the weekly distinction.
The Huskies own a 42-26 all-time record against the Eagles and also sport a 10-3 all-time mark against the Stags.
Wednesday's showdown will mark game seven of the team's 13-game home schedule. Since the 2012 campaign, UConn is 29-27 when playing on its home field.
