Cross Country Nabs Fourth in The American Championship

CINCINNATI, OHIO - The UConn women's cross country team nabbed a fourth-place finish in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday morning at the Voice of America Metropark.
SMU claimed the conference title with a meet-best 45 points followed up by Tulsa (47) and Memphis (96).
The Huskies scored a 145 to finish in fourth with three runners finishing in the top-30 of the Championships. Erika Randazzo (Norwalk, Conn.) led the way for UConn with a 25th-place overall finish (21:54.6). Teammates Mary Monda Oewel (22:00.2) and Holly Hasty (22:07.3) finished 29th and 30th respectively.
Sophomore Courtney Akerley (Tolland, Conn.) and Lindsey Kane (Washington Township, N.J.) recorded top-35 finishes out of the 95 competitors.
Rounding out the racers for the Huskies, Lauren Scahill (22:28.3), Danielle Jordan (22:31.4), Alana Pearl (22:53.3) and Hannah Parker (22:53.4).
