Samuelson Named AAC Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - For the second time this season, sophomore guard/forward Katie Lou Samuelson was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
Samuelson averaged 24.5 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the floor and 47.1 percent (8-17) from beyond the three-point arc in 34.0 minutes per game during the top-ranked Huskies' 2-0 week that featured wins over a pair of Big 10 opponents.
The Huntington Beach, Calif. native started the week with a 26-point performance, which included a 5-12 effort from deep to go along with four rebounds and two assists in UConn's victory over No. 12/13 Ohio State on Monday.
She followed that with 23 points on 8-14 shooting to go alon with three assists and two steals in Wednesday's win at Nebraska. Samuelson's 23 points against the Huskers came in only 29-minutes of action.
Samuelson and the rest of the Husky squad return to action on Thursday, Dec. 29 when they face No. 4/3 Maryland on the road at the XFINITY Center.
