NCAA East Regionals Day Two Results | Day One Recap
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After an action-packed opening day, the UConn men's track and field team concluded the second of three days at the NCAA East Regionals on Friday, May 27 in Jacksonville, Fla.
In total, the Huskies boast a program-record 14 NCAA East Regional qualifiers. For more information on the Connecticut student-athletes in Florida, please CLICK HERE. The top-12 finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. on June 8-11.
A pair of Huskies posted qualifying marks in the 110m hurdle prelims, moving onto the quarterfinals. Senior Selwyn Maxwell finished sixth in his heat with a 14.08 second finish, securing a time qualifier, while Stephon Henry finished 23rd overall with a prelim time of 14.18 seconds. Both student-student athletes will advance to Saturday's quarterfinal, scheduled for 7:20 p.m.
Three Huskies competed in Friday afternoon's javelin throw prelim, paced by a 19th-place finish from Kevin Foster, who notched a mark of 65.07m. Senior Adam Boucher (62.64m) and sophomore Seth Zuidema (60.44m) took 27th and 34th in the event, respectively.
"Selwyn and Stephon did a nice job to advance to the quarterfinals," said Husky head coach Greg Roy. "The high hurdles is an unpredictable event and anything can happen tomorrow. Kevin Foster's last throw in the javelin pulled him into contention but it just wasn't enough. Adam finished out a great career and it's nice to know that Seth and Kevin will be back in a Connecticut uniform for two more years."
Matt Graziano rounded out a stellar junior season with a 51.41m toss in the discus on Saturday afternoon, finishing 35th overall.
On Thursday, junior pole vaulter Craig Hunter posted a qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships with a leap of 5.30m. For a complete recap of day one, please CLICK HERE.
