FH Continues to Lead the National Rankings

GILBERT, Ariz. - Off to a 14-0 start and the only undefeated team in Division I, the UConn field hockey team has shown no sign of slowing down, as they remain at No. 1 in the Penn Monto/ National field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Poll for the sixth straight week.
The Huskies captured 1,174 points and 46 first-place votes. The squad is coming off a 3-0 victory at Liberty, as they run their BIG EAST regular season win streak to 22 games.
UConn is led by senior Charlotte Veitner, who is notching a conference- and team-high 51 points and 20 goals. Her 3.92 points per game and 1.54 goals per game both rank second in the nation. Additionally, junior Amanda Collins sits second in the NCAA, boasting 1.14 helpers per game.
Goalkeeper Nina Klein and the Huskies' defense have allowed just nine goals so far this season. UConn is outscoring its opponents 69-9, while Klein's 0.64 goals against average leads the nation.
No. 2 Duke (12-2) and No. 3 Virginia (12-2) retain their spots in the poll, while the Blue Devils garnered the poll's only other first-place vote. Rounding out the top five are No. 4 Michigan (13-2) and No. 5 North Carolina (12-3).

Head Coach Nancy Stevens has led the UConn field hockey program to its fourth No. 1 ranking since taking over at the helm. Stevens and the Huskies last held the distinction in 2016, after a 9-0 start to the season.
UConn returns home next weekend against Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 21 for BIG EAST action. The tilt is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
