For UConn, senior Spencer Naas (Minnetonka, Minn.) scored his fifth of the season while junior Max Kalter (Highland Park, Ill.) added a shorthanded goal in the third period, his fourth on the season.
In goal, UML junior Christoffer Hernberg stopped 23 shots to record the win. UConn's Adam Huska (Zvolen, Slovakia) made 19 saves. The Huskies held a 25-24 edge on shots but were 0-for-4 on the power play.

The River Hawks struck twice in the first period, with back-to-back goals coming just 32 seconds apart. UML got their second power play of the night at 4:34 on a David Drake (Naperville, Ill.) cross-check. The River Hawks capitalized at 5:01 as Edwardh took a feed from Chris Forney on the left circle and snapped a shot past Huska stick side for his fourth of the season.
UMass Lowell made it 2-0 just 32 seconds later as Ryan Dmowski carried into the zone up the left wing and dished to Levesque in the slot who wristed home the first goal of his collegiate career.
2nd:
The Huskies cut the lead in half just 1:23 into the second. Junior Maxim Letunov (Moscow, Russia) swept in on goal and put the puck on Hernberg. Naas jammed the puck out of a scrum in front and stuffed it past the goaltender at the right post for his fifth of the season.
UML answered at 6:00 as Edwardh notched his second of the night. The senior chipped a puck out of the UConn zone and broke up ice for a two-on-one chance. The Huskies took away the pass but Edwardh buried it top-shelf, stick side for a 3-1 lead.
The Huskies got a power play at 12:38 and midway through were awarded a penalty shot as Benjamin Freeman (Falmouth, Maine) was held up on a break-away. Freeman had his shot to pull UConn to within 3-2 but was denied Hernberg.
The River Hawks killed off the remaining 56 seconds of the power play and then tacked on a late goal at 18:33. Dmowski pulled the puck off the half boards and skated through the right circle, snapping one past Huska for his third on the year and a 4-1 lead.
