LOS ANGELES - Following Sunday afternoon's win over No. 15/13 Maryland in Hartford, the University of Connecticut women's basketball team headed to Bradley International Airport to begin the journey to Los Angeles. The Huskies landed safely at LAX at 12:30 a.m. PT and will take on No. 5 UCLA on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:30 p.m. ET. The contest will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
UConn was without All-American Katie Lou Samuelson on Sunday after she suffered a foot injury in the win over No. 20/25 Cal on Friday. Samuelson, who grew up an hour outside of LA, is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's game. She will be evaluated on a week-by-week basis.
Samuelson's teammates picked up the injured star though as six Huskies scored in double-figures, led by Kia Nurse's 21 points. Junior Azurá Stevens scored a season-high 18 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds against the Terps. Stevens, who played for two seasons at Duke, is only 25-points shy of 1,000 for her career.
The All-America duo of Napheesa Collier and Gabby Williams also recorded double-doubles on Sunday. Collier scored 13 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to go along with four assists while Williams added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
All three of UConn's wins have come against ranked teams and the Huskies' average margin of victory over those three contests is 28.3 points per game. Connecticut has won 16-straight games against teams ranked in the top-five of the Associated Press Poll.
