Huskies Shutout at Temple, 7-0

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The UConn men's tennis team fell to 0-2 in American Athletic Conference play after losing at Temple, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies fall to 2-5 overall on the season.
The Huskies got a doubles win at No. 1 from senior tandem Parker Goldstein (Marietta, Ga.) and Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.) who beat Artem Kapshuk and Vineet Naran, 6-3. The opening point came down to No. 3 but the Huskies fell just short as Jacob Appleton (Farmington, Conn.) and Arnaud Valentin (Ridgefield, Conn.) dropped a tough 7-5 decision.
UConn lost a pair of three set battles in the singles play. Valentin came up short at No. 3, falling to Thomas Sevel, 4-6, 6-3 and 6-1. Appleton dropped a 7-6, 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 4 to Florian Mayer.
The Huskies are next in action hosting Southern New Hampshire on Friday, February 24th at the East Hartford Tennis Club.
