Huskies Drop 5-2 Decision at St. John's

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The UConn men's tennis team opened their weekend playing at St. John's, falling to the Red Storm 5-2 in dual match action. The Huskies fall to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
The Red Storm opened the match by winning the doubles point and then sealed the win with wins a the top-three singles spots.
UConn refused to go quietly and won a pair of three-set battles at No. 5 and 6. Freshman Jacob Appleton (Farmington, Conn.) and Adolfo Blanco split the first two sets of their No. 5 match, both winning by scores of 6-4. In the third set tiebreakers, Appleton outlasted Blanco, winning 13-11.
At No. 6, Sophomore Hank Hill (Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.) rebounded from dropping the first set to Ognjen Trejgut, 6-4, to win in the tiebreaker. Hill took the second set 7-6 (3) and grabbed a 10-7 win in the tiebreaker set.
The Huskies will take the court at the East Hartford Tennis Club on Saturday night, hosting Merrimack College.
