Huskies Fall at Yale, 5-2

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team dropped their fourth-straight dual match, falling at state rival Yale on Sunday afternoon, 5-2. The Huskies are 4-6 in dual match play this season.
The Huskies were on top of their doubles game on Sunday, sweeping all three matches to open with a 1-0 lead.
The senior-junior tandem of Emma Alderman (Hingham, Mass.) and Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva (Vinnitsa, Ukraine) opened with a 6-3 win over Caroline Lynch and Elizabeth Zordani at No.1. UConn's No. 2 team of sophomores Gillian Perrotta (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph (Tampa, Fla.) posted a 6-4 win to improve to a team-best 12-6 on the season.
UConn made it a clean sweep at No.3 with senior Shea Flanagan (Overland Park, Kans.) and sophomore Jacqueline Lazaro (Largo, Fla.) winning 6-3 over Amy Yang and Shklover.
The Bulldogs flipped the script on the singles courts, taking five of the six matches. UConn's lone win came at No. 6 where Flanagan posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Opala Dhingra. It was her fifth-straight victory and raised her season record to 8-5.
Pletnyeva saw her seven-match winning streak come to an end with her first lost this spring. She lost a three-set battle at No.2 with Yang, 2-6, 6-4, 3-6. Fitz-Randolph also lost a tough three-set match, falling at No.3 to Shklover, 1-6, 6-3 and 6-2.
The Huskies will play host to American Athletic Conference foe Houston on Friday March 10 at the East Hartford Tennis Club.
