Joe D. Named Connecticut Sportscaster Of The Year

Joe D’Ambrosio, the voice of Husky men’s basketball and football on the UConn IMG Sports Network, was recently named the Connecticut Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.
D’Ambrosio, who earned the award for the ninth time in his career, was honored at the group’s annual awards weekend in Salisbury, N.C.
The National Sports Media Association & Hall of Fame seeks to develop educational opportunities for those who are interested in pursuing a career in sports media, through networking, interning, mentoring and scholarship programs.
The NSMA also honors, preserves and celebrates the diverse legacy of sports media in the United States.
D’Ambrosio is entering his 26th season of calling UConn football and men’s basketball and also called Husky women’s games from 1995 through 1998 and again from 2000 to 2006.
D’Ambrosio is part of the announcing team for UConn men’s ice hockey on the IMG Network and has a long history of play-by-play with the Husky baseball team.
He also works at WTIC NewsTalk 1080 and is a sports anchor at NBC Connecticut.
