Softball Announces Fall Schedule

FALL SCHEDULE
STORRS, Conn. ââ'¬" The UConn softball team will play eight exhibition games in the upcoming fall season, including six contests at the Burrill Family Field, as announced by head coach Jen McIntyre on Wednesday afternoon.
The Huskies, who will welcome six freshmen in the 2017-18 campaign, host Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 12 p.m. (ET) to begin the fall exhibition games. In September and October, UConn will face six different programs from the Northeast region.
UConn travels to Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I. on Sunday, Sept. 24 for a doubleheader against Holy Cross (12 p.m.) and Bryant (2 p.m.) ââ'¬" the only road trip during the fall season.
McIntyre's squad will host Hartford in a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 30 beginning at 11 a.m. and Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Oct.8 starting at noon. On Oct. 7, Dartmouth visits for a single nine-inning game with the Huskies at 1 p.m.
Admission is free to the public for all games, as UConn will be showcasing its six newcomers ââ'¬" Sam Barnett (Liberty Hill, Texas), Maura Glatczak (Wichita, Kan.), Reese Guevarra (New City, N.Y.), Briana Marcelino (Easton, Conn.), Marybeth Olson (Chanhassen, Minn.) and Hollis Wivell (Madison, Conn.).
The Huskies finished the 2016 season with a 17-31 (3-14 American) record, losing to Houston in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Championship on May 10 in Greenville, N.C.
UConn returns 13 players from a year ago, including All-AAC Second Team and Rookie Team member Carli Cutler. The rising sophomore led the Huskies in batting average (.309), hits (42) and doubles (10).
Pitchers Jill Stockley and Katie Koshes also return after combining for 14 of the team's 17 wins in the circle. Koshes (Orange, Conn.), a rising sophomore, ranked third in strikeouts (122) in the American as a freshman.
