Women's Soccer Ties Fordham

NEW YORK - Freshman Kess Elmore (Liverpool, England) scored two goals on Sunday, her fourth and fifth of the past three games, as the UConn women's soccer team tied Fordham 2-2. UConn is now 2-3-2 on the season while Fordham is 2-2-3.
After a scoreless first half, UConn took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the second half has Elmore scored from 18 yards out with the assist going to junior Heidi Druehl (Stamford, Conn.). Fordham tied the game 3:22 later on a 20-yard shot by Juliana Mascelli.
Elmore found the back of the net again on an eight-yard shot at the 62:19 mark of the match to give UConn a 2-1 lead with the assist going to freshman Melina Couzis (Baldwin Place, N.Y.). Fordham scored the game's final goal almost five minutes later by Milan Bornstein, who connected on a 10-yard shot off a cross from Crea Baker-Durante.
UConn outshot the Rams 18-5 while Fordham had a 5-4 penalty kick advantage.
Elmore had five shots in the game while Druehl and Vivien Beil (Jena, Germany) each had three.
The Huskies returns to action for a pair of home games this weekend at Morrone Stadium as they take on Long Beach State Thursday at 7 p.m. and then on Sunday play Colorado College at 12 p.m.
