Pieper Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn. – Redshirt senior Cecile Pieper of the UConn field hockey team was selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday.
Pieper helped UConn hold its opponents to just one goal each this weekend. In a 4-1 win over Georgetown, she helped the Husky defense hold the Hoyas to just one shot, which came on a penalty stroke. In a 5-1 win vs. American, Pieper helped hold the Eagles to five shots and three corners.
The Mannheim, Germany, native also recorded four goals and one assist between the two games.
Junior Svea Boker was named to the conference's weekly honor roll. Boker tallied eight points in two games with two goals and four assists.
The top-seeded Huskies will face No. 4 Villanova in the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals on Friday at 1 p.m.
