STORRS, Conn.—UConn will head down to the sunshine state of Florida to face the volleyball teams of the University of Central Florida and South Florida.
Friday, Oct. 12th
UConn's (10-8, 2-3) first opponent of the weekend is USF (13-5, 2-3) at 7:00 p.m. The Bulls returned 11 of their student-athletes and added six to the 2018 roster, with only six upperclassmen. Head coach Courtney Draper is in her seventh season at the helm. Coach Draper entered the season 90-100 at USF and is assisted by Benavia Jenkins, Caleb Sibert, and Mitchell McPartland.
This is the first meeting between the teams this season. However, the overall series barely belongs to the Bulls who lead 10-9. The two teams split last season 1-1 with UConn taking the opening matchup 3-0.
USF sits just one position ahead UConn in the AAC 2018 Women's volleyball standings at No. 7.
Sunday, Oct. 14th
To close out the weekend, the Huskies will take on the UCF Knights (14-3, 5-0 as of 10/09) at 1:00 p.m. Undefeated in conference play and when they play at home the Knights are streaking with 11 wins. The Knights are No. 1 in the AAC with matching conference records as the Bearcats.
Head coach Todd Dagenais has spent 11 years guiding the UCF program and is assisted by Jenny Maurer and Brian Doyon. Coach Dagenais has nine returners and six newcomers; one senior, three juniors, and five sophomores.
In last season's rendezvous the Knights took both matches against the Huskies. This is the first meeting between the teams in the 2018 season.
