UConn Graduation Success Rate Data
STORRS, Conn. -Â Six University of Connecticut athletics teams posted perfect Graduation Success Rates (GSR) and a total of 13 Husky squads performed at 90 percent or higher, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday, November 14.
Teams that earned a GSR score of 100 percent included women's basketball and field hockey, a pair of squads that have combined to win 16 national championships, and were joined by men's and women's tennis, women's lacrosse and volleyball.
The GSR data shows the percentage of student-athletes earning a degree within six years of entering college. The NCAA developed the GSR to account for student-athletes not tracked by the federal graduation rate, which includes transfers into UConn and student-athletes who transferred from UConn in good academic standing. 2018 GSR numbers are based on entering classes from 2008 to 2011.
UConn had an overall GSR score of 89%, which matched last year's mark and is two points above the national Division I average.
"I am proud of our student-athletes for their hard work and continued achievement of excellence in the classroom," director of athletics David Benedict said. "With our coaches' commitment to fostering a culture that emphasizes academics and the support of the staff in our Student-Athlete Success Program, I am confident that our outstanding performance is built to last." Â
In addition to the six teams that garnered perfect GSR scores, seven programs posted scores of 90 percent or better including women's cross country and track & field (95 percent), women's ice hockey (93 percent), women's soccer (92 percent), women's swimming (95 percent), baseball (95 percent), men's ice hockey (92 percent) and men's swimming.
