No. 2 Huskies to Compete in Paradise Jam

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 2 UConn women's basketball team travels to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the 2018 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas this week.
The Huskies (2-0) will face Ole Miss (3-1) Thursday, St. John's (2-0) Friday and Purdue (4-0) Saturday. All UConn's games will be at 7:30 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
UConn defeated Vanderbilt 80-42 in the Hall of Fame Women's Basketball Showcase last Saturday. Junior Crystal Dangerfield led the Huskies with 19 points while seniors Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier each scored 15. Collier notched her first double-double of the season with 16 rebounds.
UCONN IN THE PARADISE JAM
The Huskies are 6-0 all-time in the Paradise Jam and have competed in the tournament twice before. Connecticut last appeared in the Jam in 2012.
SCOUTING OLE MISS
The Rebels are coming off a 69-66 win over Western Michigan Sunday. This season, Crystal Allen leads Ole Miss with 18.0 points per game while La'Karis Salter leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game.
This is the first meeting between the Huskies and Rebels.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
The Red Storm picked up a 60-49 win over Army last Friday. Four players are averaging double-digit points, led by Akina Wellere with 12.5. Kadaja Bailey is averaging 10.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game.
UConn is 40-17 all-time vs. St. John's. The teams last met on Jan. 4, 2015, when the Huskies won, 70-54.
SCOUTING PURDUE
The Boilermakers are coming off a 78-44 win over Purdue Fort Wayne last Sunday. Ae'Rianna Harris leads three players in double-digit points with 15.0 per game. She also leads Purdue with 10.5 rebounds per game.
UConn is 5-1 all-time vs. Purdue. The teams last met in the 2012 Paradise Jam, where the Huskies won 91-57.
