Seven Huskies Named NFHCA All-Region

STORRS, Conn. – Seven members of the UConn field hockey team were selected to the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region Team, as announced Monday.
Junior Svea Boker, senior Amanda Collins, senior Amelia Iacobucci, redshirt senior Cecile Pieper and redshirt freshman Cheyenne Sprecher were named to the first team. Sophomore Jessica Dembrowski and junior Antonia Tiedtke were tabbed to the second team.
The seven Huskies helped lead UConn to a 19-4 record in 2018 and the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles. UConn advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Boker ranked second on the team with 18 goals, 16 points and 52 points, all career highs. She was named first team All-BIG EAST and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team this season.
One of UConn's team captains, Collins posted nine goals, 16 assists and 34 points this season. She ranked second on the team with assists and third in points. Collins was tabbed first team All-BIG EAST and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team.
Also a team captain, Iacobucci notched two goals, three assists and seven points this season. She was also named first team All-BIG EAST and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team.
Pieper led UConn with 23 goals and 58 points this season while adding 12 assists. In addition to being named first team All-BIG EAST, she was also the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Pieper was the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
In her first season on the field, Sprecher started all 22 games and held a 1.25 goals-against average and a .755 save percentage. She was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, All-BIG EAST First Team and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
Dembrowski notched nine goals, three assists and 21 points in 2018.
Tiedtke led UConn with 19 assists this season while adding six goals for 31 points. She was named BIG EAST All-Second Team.
The Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the Longstreth/NFHCA Regional Player of the Year awards (November 29) — they will be followed by the Longstreth/NFHCA All-American teams (December 4) and the Longstreth/NFHCA National Collegiate Player of the Year (December 10).
