Huskies Add a Fourth for 2019-20

STORRS, Conn. - UConn head coach Mike Cavanaugh announced that the men's hockey program has received a National Letter of Intent from student-athlete Vladislav Firstov (Yaroslavl, Russia). Firstov joins future Huskies Carter Berger (North Vancouver, British Columbia), Matej Blümel (Tabor, Czech Republic) and Eric Linell (Great Neck, N.Y.) in making up the incoming class for the 2019-20 season.
Vladislav Firstov, Forward – Yaroslavl, Russia / Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
Firstov is a 6-0 forward originally hailing from Yaroslavl, Russia and is currently in his rookie season with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United State Hockey League (USHL). Over his first 20 games, Firstov has put up 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists, leading all USHL rookies and ranking sixth in the league overall. He is second on his team to fellow UConn commit Matej Blümel who has 27 points (13g/14a). In the latest round of NHL Central Scouting grades released in early November, Firstov elevated from his initial status as a "C" prospect to a "B", indicating a projected 2nd or 3rd round candidate at the 2019 NHL Draft. He is the first Husky recruit since Tage Thompson to commit to the Huskies as "B" recruit by NHL Central Scouting. Prior to coming to the USHL, Firstov played 24 games for Lokomotiv-2004 Yaroslavl U17, scoring 25 points on 10 goals and 15 assists. He also had a 21 games stint with Loko-Yunior Yaroslavl in the NMHL, scoring four goals with five assists. In 2016-17, he had 50 points on 23 goals and 27 asssists with Lokomotiv-2004 Yaroslavl U16.Â
