Cecile Pieper Named NFHCA Regional Player of the Year

GILBERT, Ariz. – UConn field hockey redshirt senior Cecile Pieper was selected as the Longstreth/NFHCA Mideast Region Player of the Year Thursday.
Pieper led UConn to the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles and helped the team reach the NCAA quarterfinals.
This season, the Mannheim, Germany, native led UConn with 23 goals and 58 points. As a defender, she helped the Huskies record seven shutouts and a 1.33 goals-against average.
Pieper was named the 2018 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and was unanimously selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She was the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Pieper is a member of the German National Team and won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She has played 99 caps for Germany.
