Umstead Earns First Cap for Team USA

LANCASTER, Pa. – Former UConn field hockey All-American Casey Umstead appeared in her first game for the U.S. National Team as Team USA faces Belgium for three games at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex.
Umstead made her debut in the first game of the series, a 2-0 loss to the Red Panthers. The United States tied the series with a 3-2 win Tuesday before falling in the finale Thursday, 4-1.
The Huskies have had 13 total representatives on the U.S. National Team. UConn has had three players compete in five Summer Olympics.
Umstead is a 2018 graduate of the University of Connecticut. In Storrs, she helped the Huskies to four straight NCAA Final Four appearances and the 2014 and 2017 NCAA Championships. Umstead was a 2017 NFHCA First Team All-American and the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year.
She was previously a member of the U.S. Junior National Team, U-17 National Team U-19 National Indoor Team, U-19 National Team and U-21 Women's National Team. Umstead was named to the U.S. Women's National Development Squad in 2017.
