Huskies Ink Three to Class of 2023

STORRS, Conn. – Head coach Nancy Stevens and the UConn field hockey team announced the addition of three players to the roster next season. The Huskies welcome Sophie Hamilton, McKenna Sergi and Erica Solomen to the Class of 2023.
A native of Bruton, England, Hamilton is a member of England's U18 National Team. She also plays cricket for Somerset. A midfielder, Hamilton and her twin sister, Olivia, were also members of England's U16 team. She plays for the Team Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club.
Sergi was named a top-50 recruit by MAX Field Hockey. A native of Greene, N.Y., she played at Greene Central High School and for the Southern Tier Storm club. Sergi participated in the U.S. U17 Junior National Camp and the U16 Shooting & Stars Tournament. She also participated in the USA Field Hockey U19 Futures Tournament earlier this year. Sergi is a two-time MAX Field Hockey preseason All-American and a two-time New York all-state and league all-star selection. The midfielder was named NFHCA All-Region in 2017 and was an AAU Junior Olympic Games selection.
A member of the U.S. U17 National Indoor Team, Solomen is also a MAX Field Hockey top-50 recruit. Solomen was also an NFHCA All-Region selection in 2017. A forward from Medford, N.J., she was named to the 2017 AAU Junior Olympic Games and the 2018 U19 Stars & Stripes elite all-star game. Solomen competed for Shawnee High School and the WC Eagles club. She was a 2018 first team all-conference selection. In 2017, Solomen was a MAX Field Hockey second team all-region and second team all-state selection.
Stevens and her staff of Paul Caddy and Cheri Schulz are revered as some of the top recruiters nationally. Since Stevens came to Storrs in 1990, the Huskies have featured 32 NFHCA First Team All-Americans. Stevens, the all-time winningest coach in Division I with 681 career wins, has been named the NFHCA National Coach of the Year three times and has led UConn to three NCAA Championships.
