STORRS, Conn. - The UConn swimming and diving team dominated the Boston College Eagles with a 170-119 victory on Friday night at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium.
Many Huskies posted impressive nights with Katelyn Walsh (100 & 200 Breast), Ryan Dulaney (500 & 1000 Free), Georgia Apostolu (100 & 200 Back) and Jackie Van Lew (100 & 200 Free) all posting multiple first place finishes.
"Tonight was a great team win, said head coach Chris Maiello. "Our coaching staff continue to be encouraged by our racing." Tonight was lot of hard work and our team had to fight through some discomfort but our team cam through in the end.
" Right from the start I could tell it would a good night, our women's really was strong and with the win and then the men's really broke the pool record right after- that record is from the early 90's - so it's been up there for a while. Will lead off the relay with a pool record of his own in the 100 back, that swim jump-started our relay and our night for the men's program."
As much fun as tonight was, we have another challenge tomorrow. We need to quickly refocus as BU come tomorrow and they will challenge us."
Linnea Anderson (100 Fly), Ali Grace (200 Fly) and Brazil Rule (50 Free) also nabbed top spot finishes on Friday.
UConn put together a great performance on the boards with the Huskies taking the top four places in both the 1M and 3M. Senior captain Monica Marcello won the 3M while Elizabeth Drab took the 1M.

Erin Clifford and Kamrin Dawkins notched third and fourth place finishes in both events.
"Given the fact that the week following Thanksgiving is historically a challenging hill, we had some favorable finishes," said head diving coach John Bransfield. "Between hitting studies, and getting on the saddle of vigorous training, it's hard to feel good and with any rhythm. I was pleased in general that we had more hits than misses and I'm confident that this week's gains speaks volumes for what can be once in full stride. In particular, Libby Drab, Monica Marcello, and Kyle Kennedy had solid performances."
Finally, the UConn relay team won both the 200 Free and 400 Medley relays. Apostolu, Walsh, Katie Breault and Van Lew led the way in the 400 while Rule, Anderson, Maddy Blair and Van Lew took home the 200.
The Huskies are back in action on Saturday against Williams College and Boston University beginning at 1 p.m. at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium.
