The trio were named to watch lists for awards specific to their positions: Collier to Katrina McClain Award (top power forward), Samuelson to Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (top shooting guard) and Dangerfield to Nancy Lieberman Award (top point guard). The three were also named to the Wooden Award watch list.

The Huskies were picked No. 2 in the preseason AP and USA Today polls.
UConn is coming off a 36-1 season with the team's record 11th straight NCAA Final Four appearance. The Huskies won both The American regular season and tournament titles.
Ohio State fell to No. 22/21 USF in its season opener, 71-47. The Buckeyes face Detroit Mercy Friday evening before traveling to Storrs.
