No. 1 UConn, No. 14 Cal Set for Saturday Matchup

BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 1 UConn women's basketball team (10-0) closes 2018 with a tough test at No. 14 Cal (9-0) Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network and the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
The Huskies are coming off a tough test against Oklahoma Wednesday. UConn came from behind in the last few minutes to win, 72-63. Senior Napheesa Collier led the Huskies with her seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Senior Katie Lou Samuelson also had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Samuelson currently sits second in the UConn record books with 321 career three pointers. Against the Sooners, Collier moved into the top 10 for career rebounds (917) and is also eighth with 198 career blocks. Both seniors are in the top 15 for career points with 1,913 for Samuelson and 1,798 for Collier.
UConn's trip to Cal is the team's road game of the season. The Huskies are currently in a stretch of six out of seven games on the road. Connecticut doesn't have another home game until Jan. 9, 2019.
UConn is 4-1 all-time against Cal and the Huskies have won the last four meetings. Last season, Connecticut beat California, 82-47, in Storrs. This is UConn's first trip to Berkeley since 1991.
This season Kristine Anigwe leads the Bears with 23.6 points and 13.7 rebounds per game. Kiana Smith (10.7) and Asha Thomas (10.0) are also averaging double-digit points.
