Three Huskies Named NFHCA All-Americans

GILBERT, Ariz. – Three members of the UConn field hockey team were selected to the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American teams, as announced Tuesday.
Senior Amanda Collins and redshirt senior Cecile Pieper were selected to the first team Svea Boker was tabbed to the second team. Collins is now a two-time All-American after earning second team honors last year, while this is the first All-America honors for Pieper and Boker.
The Huskies are one of seven teams with three honorees, which is the most for any institution. Including this year's selections, UConn has had 52 First Team All-Americans and 33 Second Team All-Americans all-time.
The three players were instrumental to UConn's success this year, which included a 19-4 record, the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles and an appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals.
One of UConn's team captains, Collins posted nine goals, 16 assists and 34 points this season. She ranked second on the team with assists and third in points. Collins was tabbed first team All-BIG EAST and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team.
Pieper led UConn with 23 goals and 58 points this season while adding 12 assists. In addition to being named first team All-BIG EAST, she was also the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Pieper was the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She was named the NFHCA Regional Player of the Year last week.
Boker ranked second on the team with 18 goals, 16 points and 52 points, all career highs. She was named first team All-BIG EAST and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team this season.
Last week, UConn had seven Huskies named NFHCA All-Region.
Next on the NFHCA postseason award schedule is the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I National Collegiate Player of the Year award, which will be announced on December 10. Academic awards will be announced in March 2019.
