Huskies Drop AAC Match at Temple, 4-1

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The UConn men's tennis team played their first match against a team from the American Athletic Conference on Saturday, coming up short in a 4-1 loss at Temple at the Legacy Tennis Center. The Huskies will face ECU later in the season in their only other action against AAC teams before the tournament.
"We had our chances in doubles and played some of best tennis of the season," stated assoicate head coach Reinaldo Valor. "It was one of our best performance of the season and very proud of how we competed. Congrats to Temple they were to tough today. Looking forward to next week and continuing to elevate our level."
The Huskies came up short in doubles but did pick up a win at the No. 1 spot from junior Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) and freshman Yili Zheng (Shanghai, China) who defeated Eric Biscoveanu and Michael Haelen, 7-6.
In singles play, junior Jack McLister (Leesburg, Va.) was a winner at No. 3, beating Haelen 6-4 and 6-3 to earn his team-leading 14th win on the season.
UConn will play three matches next weekend, starting Friday afternoon with a trip to Bryant University. The Huskies head to Marist on Saturday and return home on Sunday to host Boston University on the campus courts for "Senior Day".
