No. 24 Huskies Defeat UMass Lowell, 14-7

LOWELL, Mass. - The No. 24 UConn baseball team continued to swing the bats well with a 14-7 win at UMass Lowell on Wednesday afternoon at Lelacheur Park.
The Huskies (20-11-1) put together a seven-run, seven-hit fifth inning to move ahead 9-3. Chris Winkel tied the game with a solo homer to lead off the frame, his third dinger of the season.
Thad Phillips and Troy Stefanski recorded back-to-back two-run doubles to extend the lead for UConn.
After the River Hawks trimmed the deficit to 9-7 in the fifth, the Huskies bat responded with four runs in the seventh create some breathing room at 13-7. Mike Woodworth picked up a two-run single to highlight the scoring in the frame.
The back end of the UConn bullpen helped seal the win with four scoreless innings after the fifth. Jake Wallace logged two of those scoreless frames.
Dan Rajkowski made his return from injury with a 1-2-3 inning in the eighth. It was the first appearance for Rajkowski since pitching on Opening Day at Kennesaw State (2/16).

Joe Simeone closed the ballgame in the ninth to push the Huskies to 4-0-1 in midweek games this season.
UConn travels to first place Cincinnati for a three-game series this weekend beginning on Friday,
