After the match, the Huskies honored their three graduating seniors, Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva (Vinnitsa, Ukranie), Summer Walker (Conyers, Ga.) and Zaina Zaki (West Chester, Pa.) along with their families.
"That was one great way to have a Senior Day match with a win over a really good BU team," commented head coach Glenn Marshall. "We played really good doubles with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. We were a really worried about the emotions of the day but we just really focused and got the job done in doubles and carried it over to singles."
Pletnyeva and junior Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph (Tampa, Fla.) set the tone for the day with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Remi Ramos and Lily Burchell are improved to 8-0 playing together this season. The Huskies clinched the opening point at No.3 with juniors Jacqueline Lazaro (Largo, Fla.) and Gillian Perrotta (Scarsdale, N.Y.) topping Dani Blaser and Katya Martens, 6-3

"With Zaina and Lizzy had such good straight-set wins," said Marshall. "Lizzy has had some really good past battles with Kostirko from BU before and she just really played well today and so did Zaina. And we almost got the trifecta with Summer today but she was so close, had three close sets all up and down. She played really well too. I am just pleased and proud of how we competed all day today."
Walker lost a tough battle at No. 3 to Emily Kim. Down 5-2 in the first set, she battled back to win 7-6 (7) but dropped the second set, 6-1. The third set went down to the wire with Kim edging out a 7-5 victory.
