STILLWATER, Okla. --- Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Drake Hull (Rutland, Vt.), the top two scorers on the UConn men's golf team in 2017-18, have each been named to the Division I PING All-Northeast Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
It is the second consecutive PING All-Northeast Region selection for Hervol, who will be a UConn senior next year, and the first for Hull, who will be a redshirt junior for the Huskies.
A total of 154 golfers across the country, spread across six regions, earned PING All-Region honors from the GCAA. Hervol and Hull were two of just six golfers from the American Athletic Conference so honored. The other AAC golfers selected included Claudio Correa and Cristian DiMarco of USF (Southeast Region), Austin Squires of Cincinnati (Midwest Region) and Michael Perras of Houston (Central Region).
Hervol, who was named to the AAC All-Conference Team for the second time last week, set a UConn record with a 71.6 average for 35 rounds last season. He was UConn's low scorer in six events this past season, including the FAU Spring Championship, where he won medalist honors.
Hervol, who was named the AAC Golfer of the Week on April 4, had five Top 10 and eight Top 20 finishes this season and shot 19 rounds of par-or-better, including nine sub-70 rounds. He is also a two-time AAC All-Academic Team selection, likely to make it three when the 2017-18 team is named.
Hull averaged 72.9 for 35 rounds for the Huskies, earning two Top 10 and four Top 20 finishes, including a season-best tie for fifth at the prestigious Clemson Invitational. He had 15 rounds of par-or-better and five sub-70 rounds.
