MSOC Update 2: Huskies in the Pros

STORRS, Conn. - Five former standouts with the UConn men's soccer program - Kwame Awuah, Andre Blake, Cyle Larin, Scott Levene and Jake Nerwinski - continue finding success at the professional level in the realms of Major League Soccer and the Turkish Süper Lig.
In program history, UConn has had 33 players reach the MLS ranks and 36 selections in the MLS SuperDraft. The current group of "Huskies in the Pros" continue to carry the torch for UConn in professional play, including Scott Levene - the latest addition to the list.

Kwame Awuah - New York City FC
Awuah (Toronto, ON) has appeared in two matches for NYC FC this season, as the team owns an 8-3-4 record and sits in second place in the Eastern Conference. NYC FC returns to action on Sunday, June 24 against Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium.

Andre Blake - Philadelphia Union
Blake (May Pen, Jamaica) has started at goalkeeper in all 15 matches this season for Philadelphia, pitching four shutouts and accounting for 57 saves, the third most among all MLS goalies. Blake recorded a seven-save effort, one short of his season-best, in a 3-1 victory over Chicago on May 30. The Union is 5-7-3, good for eighth place in the Eastern Conference, and plays again on Saturday against the New York Red Bulls.

Cyle Larin - Beşiktaş
Larin (Brampton, ON) has played in four games with Beşiktaş, earning his first start on May 13 in a 3-2 win over Osmanlispor. In his Beşiktaş debut on April 7, he scored a goal in a 5-1 win over Goztepe. Most recently, he netted an impressive hat trick in a 5-1 win over Sivasspor on May 19 - increasing his scoring total to four goals since joining the Turkish club. Beşiktaş is 21-8-5 at the conclusion of its season.

Scott Levene - New York Red Bulls II
Levene made his USL debut for NYRB II against FC Cincinnati on Saturday, June 2, making three saves between the posts in a 2-1 loss. The New York Red Bulls II are 5-3-5 this season, sitting in fifth place of the USL Eastern Conference standings. The next game is Saturday against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.

Jake Nerwinski - Vancouver FC
Nerwinski (Lawrenceville, N.J.) has started in 10 matches for Vancouver FC through the club's first 16. He has recorded a pair of shots and logged 900 minutes on the field for Vancouver this season, coming off a promising rookie campaign that saw him finish sixth in the MLS Rookie of the Year voting. Vancouver is 6-5-5 and in fourth place of the Western Conference, with its next match on Saturday, June 23 against the Philadelphia Union.
