Upton Helps Ireland to World Cup Silver Medal

LONDON – In her first Vitality Hockey Women's World Cup, former UConn field hockey defender Rosin Upton helped Ireland go on an unprecedented run and win its first medal in the event.
The 16th-ranked Green Army earned a silver medal at the World Cup in the country's first-ever championship game. Prior to the start of the 2018 World Cup, Ireland had won just one World Cup game – against Russia in 1994. The Irish fell to No. 1 Netherlands 6-0 in the final game of the tournament.

Upton started every game for Ireland and helped vault the team to the gold medal game after scoring in a shootout against India in the semifinals.

During her time in Storrs, Upton helped the Huskies to two NCAA Championships in 2013 and 2014. She was tabbed an All-American and the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in both those seasons.
