Huskies Lose 51-21 at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The UConn football team fell to 1-3 on the season after a 51-21 loss to Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies spotted the Orange a 21-0 lead in the first quarter before putting together a solid stretch of play to close the first half.
From the 3:53 mark of the first quarter to the halftime whistle, the Huskies outscored Syracuse 14-10. David Pindell rattled off a career-high 75-yard touchdown run on a quarterback draw to put the Huskies on the scoreboard.
The UConn defense settled down in the second quarter and created a turnover on a hustle play from redshirt freshman Ian Swenson. Swenson chased down Jarveon Howard and stripped the ball out right before the goal line to give the ball back to the Huskies.
Zavier Scott hauled in his first career touchdown on a two-yard reception from Pindell. Scott led the Huskies with a career-high seven catches for 38 yards out of the backfield.
Redshirt freshman Marvin Williams came into the game at quarterback for the Huskies in the fourth quarter and unleashed his first career touchdown pass to Tyler Davis on a 26-yard pass to Tyler Davis.
Eddie Hahn led the UConn defense with a career-high 11 tackles.
UConn returns to Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field on Saturday, Sept. 29 vs. Cincinnati at 3:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
