NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack got goals from five different players Saturday night on the way to a 5-2 win over the UConn Huskies in a Hockey East match-up from Lawler Rink.
The loss drops the Huskies to 7-14-1 overall and 2-10-1 in Hockey East with the loss. The Warriors notch their third-straight win and jump up to 7-15-1 overall and 4-9-0 in league play.
Both UConn goals came in the third period from senior Karl El-Mir (Montreal, Quebec) and freshman Jachym Kondelik (Budejovice, Czech Republic). The senior broke the shut-out at the three minute mark of the third, running his point streak to five-straight games.
Kondelik scored his third on the season and he added an assist as well. He now has a point in four-straight games.
The Huskies outshot Merrimack 28-27 with junior Adam Huska (Zvolen, Slovakia) making 22 saves in the loss.

With 41 seconds left in the period, Patrick Kramer touched a pass over to Logan Drevitch at the right crease where he tapped it in for the 2-0 lead heading into the second period.

3rd Period:
A tripping call on UConn's Wyatt Newpower (Hugo, Minn.) at 36 seconds put Merrimack on the power play but was wiped out after only a minute when Drevitch was sent in for slashing. With it 4-on-4, Merrimack's Michael Babcock put his team up 4-0, beating Huska right in front off a feed from the half boards by Irvine.
With 28 seconds left on Merrimack's penalty, El-Mir broke the shutout, shovling a shot past Pantano off a feed from Kondelik to cut the lead to 4-1.
At 11:02, Kondelik found a loose puck in front of the net and put it past Pantano to pull the Huskies within 4-2. The Warriors made it 5-2 and put the game out of reach with eight minutes left in the period when August Von Ungern-Sternberg tallied his first collegiate goal lifting one up over Huska to close out the night's scoring.
